Don’t know your serial number?
The 2020 MacBook Air release was historic for Apple. Implementing the M1 Apple SoC into the lightweight Mac brought drastic performance and battery life improvements. Although there was no overhaul in design it wasn’t needed. The M1 SoC multi-core performance is 2.6x faster than the top specification i7 in the Intel in the previous model. It was released along side an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with very similar specifications.
The 15-inch M2 2023 MacBook Air was the first of its kind. No MacBook Air previously had been sold as a 15-inch. It included a whole new redesign following the designs of the Pro models and the removal of the tapered front edge.
The 13-inch 2020 MacBook Pro was the first Pro model with Apple’s newly design M1 Apple Silicon processor. Although there were no other changes to the product line itself the performance and battery benefits afforded by the M1 ARM chip were unparalleled. The biggest controversy was that it only supported one external display which stopped a large portion of customer base from upgrading. The 2020 MacBook Pro was announced alongside the MacBook Air with the same M1 chip but had 8 GPU cores as standard. This was an upgrade on the Air.
The final version of the intel based Touch Bar MacBook Pro was unveiled on November 13th 2019 succeeding the 15-inch model. The 2019 16-inch had the largest MacBook Pro screen since the 17-inch unibody model from 2011. Also included were the scissor switch keys from the Magic Keyboard which was a great relief for many. There we no ports changes when compared to the 15-inch 2019 but you could now go up to 64GB of RAM and an 8GB HBM2 memory graphics card.
The 2019 generation of iMac marked the year that the 21.5-inch was only available in 4K. Design and functionality stayed the same, with only a specification increase to i9 Intel processors and Radeon Vega graphics cards. Apple claimed this model was up to 60% faster than the previous model.
The first Apple Silicon iMac released by Apple, the 24-inch 2021 iMac, was a massive improvement over the 2020 model range, with the list of changes including a whole new design using the 24-inch form factor, which hadn't been seen since 2009 and a white bezel throwing back to the 2006 model.
