The late-2020 MacBook Air marked the range’s move from Intel to Apple’s M1 chip. The familiar wedge-shaped case concealed a much bigger change: stronger performance, longer battery life and a fanless design that stayed silent. Compared with the 2020 Intel MacBook Air, it made demanding everyday tasks more practical without adding bulk. The transition brought limits too, including one native external display and memory fixed at purchase, while its seven- or eight-core GPU configurations meant that not every M1 Air offered identical graphics capacity.
