Refurbished Vs. used Apple devices

Knowing what a refurbished Apple device is vs. a used Apple device is incredibly important, as there are several key differences.

What is a used Apple device?

A used – otherwise known as pre-owned or second-hand – Apple device is one that’s sold to you in “as is” condition. Whilst if you buy it from a high street shop or online retailer, it may have been checked to ensure it works, but it may not be at full health, as well as data security and iCloud locks leaving the device unusable.

When you buy a used MacBook, iPhone or iPad, it may have hidden faults, including a battery with low health, and you may not get a warranty.

What is a refurbished Apple device?

Unlike a “used” MacBook or iPhone, a refurbished one has been thoroughly inspected, tested and restored.

Our refurbishment process

To ensure you can trust us, we’re fully transparent about the checks that all of the Apple devices we sell undergo.

Full data reset

Firstly, we’ll ensure that all data is wiped so the device is as if it just came from the factory. We are also Adisa-accredited, ISO 27001-registered, CESG-approved, and Blancco-certified, which means the device has been fully cleaned and sanitised of all data.

Diagnostic tests

We test literally every aspect of the Apple devices we buy. From visual checks, to checking hardware, WiFi & Bluetooth connectivity, the display, any peripherals that are sent in with the device, and the battery.

Apple-certified repairs

If anything needs to be repaired or replaced, our Apple-certified technicians only repair devices with genuine parts, including battery replacement if the battery health is less than 80%. In addition, we replace all thermal compound and pads to ensure optimal performance & cooling, which prevents future hardware failure.

Operating system update

We will update the operating system to the latest compatible version for any given device to ensure it’s in full working order and has the latest security features.

Professional deep clean

We fully clean and sanitise all Apple devices prior to selling them on our website to ensure that they look as good as they work.

Quality assurance

Cosmetic Imperfections

Whilst the product has been fully refurbished and will work like new, it will have minor cosmetic imperfections like scratches on the body or minor scratches on the screen.

We offer free next working day delivery on all orders placed before 8am on Mondays and before 11am, Tuesday to Friday, meaning you can get your Apple device delivered on a Saturday. You can also opt to have your Mac, MacBook, iPhone or iPad delivered on a Sunday, at an additional cost.
