The first 12.9-inch Wi-Fi iPad Pro introduced the Pro range in 2015, giving the iPad a much larger canvas for documents and drawing. A9X and four speakers supported more ambitious creative work and media use, while the first Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard expanded how the tablet could be used. Those accessories were sold separately, and its size made handheld use less comfortable than on a 9.7-inch iPad. The smaller Pro was a later addition, rather than part of the original launch. The cellular first-generation 12.9-inch iPad Pro added mobile data to this original large Pro.
