About This Mac

The mid-2012 15-inch MacBook Pro updated the traditional unibody design just as Apple introduced its Retina alternative. Ivy Bridge quad-core processors, newer NVIDIA graphics and USB 3 improved processing, graphics work and external file transfers. It retained the optical drive, Ethernet and FireWire, with replaceable memory and conventional storage offering flexibility the mid-2012 15-inch Retina MacBook Pro did not match. The trade-off was a thicker, heavier body and a lower-resolution screen, reflecting a more accessible internal design.
