The mid-2012 13-inch MacBook Air improved the established wedge design without changing its character. Ivy Bridge processors and Intel HD Graphics 4000 updated performance, while USB 3 made copying files to external storage much quicker than the older USB connection allowed. Memory could also be configured to 8GB, giving multitasking more breathing room than on the mid-2011 13-inch MacBook Air. The thin case and flash storage remained appealing for travel, although the screen still lacked Retina resolution and the memory could not be upgraded later.
