This system features a LED-backlit display with IPS technology which improves the overall experience of the screen, especially while binge-watching Netflix; however, you’ll see the most significant difference in text. Whether it’s reading emails or texting the words will be crisp on the screen with less fuzziness around the edges.
Your screen is made up of tiny pixels which display different colours that make up the image you see. Pixels are tiny, however, the smaller you make them, the more you can fit in the same area. A standard pixel is typically around 0.26mm wide whereas Retina is closer to 0.16mm. This smaller size creates a sharper, clearer image.

With selected merchants, when you check out with PayPal Credit, you'll be shown a selection of instalment offers which enable you to spread the cost of your purchase across a number of repayments. These instalment offers allow you to choose a set monthly repayment over a fixed period to help spread the cost of larger purchases in a more manageable way.
Instalment offers will always have an interest rate lower than the standard variable rate. If you already have PayPal Credit, you can take advantage of these offers without having to reapply as long as you have enough available credit limit.
It is important that you think about whether you can afford the monthly repayment agreed for any instalment offer. This will be added to your monthly minimum repayment amount and will need to be paid each month.
If you fail to make repayments or in certain other circumstances, PayPal may remove your offer and any outstanding amount will be charged at 21.9% p.a. (variable). Please see the Credit Agreement for more details.
PayPal Credit is like a credit card, without the plastic. It's a credit limit that's attached to your PayPal account which you can use for your online purchases. If you have PayPal Credit it will be available as a funding source within your PayPal wallet and can be used for purchases in most places where PayPal is accepted. You can make purchases in the same way as you would with a normal credit card, by choosing PayPal Credit as your funding source at checkout.
For purchases less than £99.00, interest is charged at our standard rate of 21.9% p.a. (variable) if the full amount is not paid off by the date shown on your statement. In addition, PayPal Credit lets you access two types of promotional offers: 0% for 4 months on all purchases of £99.00 and over; and instalment offers with selected merchants.
No, PayPal Credit is only available to customers over 18 living in the United Kingdom (excluding Channel Islands and the Isle of Man). PayPal also have to assess a customer's creditworthiness, so you should have a good credit history to apply.
Customers may be offered the opportunity to apply for credit on a website, if purchasing an eligible product and choosing to apply for an instalment offer using PayPal Credit. Otherwise customers can apply directly via PayPal's website.

The processor is the biggest dictator of performance in a computer. The more powerful the processor the quicker the computer will run. However, not everybody requires a high-level performance and you can save yourself hundreds by opting for one that better suits your needs.
System Age The newer a system is the newer the processor is. Newer generations of processors are more powerful and efficient. Even the lower range versions of processors can be quicker than the older but higher range models.
Range The ranges in order are as follows in performance order from highest at the top to lowest at the bottom.
Cores Systems generally come in dual-core or quad-core however newer high-performance model are now available in 6, 8, 12 or even 24 and more. For home use a dual-core system is fine. Anything else we recommend a quad-core. Only if you require serious power would you need any more.
Clock Speed What you should be aware of is that a lower clock speed doesn’t always mean a slower system and you should look at the above factors first. It isn’t anywhere near as important than the others but if you’re comparing models of the same year it’s a good indication.
Mac Pro’s will require a GPU to be fully functional. For those of you who do work in the world of graphics having a dedicated graphics card in your system is important. Here’s what you should be looking for.
VRAM A good indication of performance is the VRAM or video memory on the graphics card inside. Normally you’ll see a size of 2GB or above and this is what we would recommend.
Model / Age The newer the model of graphics card just like a processor the faster and more efficient they are.
Integrated Graphics For users who need graphics performance, integrated graphics are no good. What this term means is that the graphics processing is handled by the processor as well with an ‘integrated graphics card’. You can spot which models use integrated graphics because you’ll see reference to either Intel HD Graphics or Intel Iris Graphics.
If you want to use your computer casually – for example, you want to browse the internet, reply to emails and listen to music – you only need around 2GB memory. However, we’d recommend you get a computer with 4GB RAM so your computer can handle anything you throw at it, and you are somewhat future-proofed if more intensive updates of the applications you use are released.
For power users, or office workers looking for a used Apple computer, we recommend 4GB to 8GB of RAM. At this size, internet browsing, emails, watching videos and listening to music is easy, and you can do many of these things simultaneously. You can also run word processing, flash games, and run simple graphics programs smoothly with this much RAM. At 8GB, you can handle larger file sizes and run more intensive applications as well.
If you work in a creative environment where you need to edit large files or photos and videos, especially if you’re accessing more than one file at a time, then we recommend getting a computer with at least 16GB of memory. This gives you enough memory for video editing, music, and design work, and running more intensive software such as the Adobe Suite.
Storage is just as vital as processors. Old-school Hard Drives have been rejected for SSDs because they increase the performance of the systems. Most reputable resellers will replace hard drives with SSD replacements before sale. You can work pretty well with 128GB SSD storage, though we recommend you get at least 256GB if you are intending to store photos, videos or a large amount of documents.
The myth that you’re better off waiting a while before updating your macOS is a thing of that past. Apple has greatly improved their initial releases. However, the stigma has still stuck with some users. Unless you have a specific need for an older version, for example, if you’re running legacy software that is no longer updated then select a previous version.
What does this mean? It means that if you have a problem with your Mac during the warranty period as an example, it won’t turn on, you have a flicker on the screen or a port isn’t working then you can give us a call you, send us your system and we will find a solution.
