MacFinder refurbished is an inspected, upgraded, and quality-checked pre-owned device. Although refurbished has a definition, not all refurbishment processes are the same. Our refined process follows strict quality standards performed by our in-house technical team.
We cover the hardware and operating system we provide with every device. During your warranty period, if a fault arises, the labour and parts required to fix the problem are free of charge. We also offer a battery service If your device reports it’s needed. Please see our warranty terms for exclusions.
We accept all major credit and debit cards. Finance is available via PayPal as either Pay in 3 or instalments up to 24 months on orders above £199.
Yes! You can receive a free no-obligation quotation for your device. We also offer 10% extra for your item if you select payment via Store Credit.
We ship all mainland UK deliveries via DPD, who provide a timeslot delivery service. Excluding our Saturday delivery, we don’t have any premium UK shipment options as we aim to get every order delivered as fast as possible, free of charge. For international orders, we ship via DHL and a price is quoted based on the product weight and service selected at checkout.

At MacFinder, we sell various refurbished Apple products, including new and older models. To help our customers understand the value of these products, we display a "when new" price alongside some items. This is the price that the product was originally sold for when Apple first released it.
By showing the "when new" price, we aim to give our customers a clear idea of the savings, they can expect when purchasing a refurbished product. We never supply systems with technical faults unless clearly stated in the condition description. When pricing a system the condition grade is an attributing factor and you’ll see a reduction of price.

The product is in good condition and is considered expected for its model and year. It may have a few scratches, minor dents or marks which are a sign of normal wear and tear. Our technicians have guidelines during preparation which separates any devices which we would consider to have cosmetic imperfections.
The product has a cosmetic defect. The defects may be limited to just one large dent or deep scratch alternatively it could consist of numerous minor scratches or marks. These cosmetic defects may include scratches, marks or dents either on the case or screen and because of this we individually photograph all fair condition systems.
If you’re budget conscious a fair condition system can be the ideal solution for those looking to save. We cannot stress enough that the defects are only cosmetic and the systems are completely functional with no damage to the internal components. All fair condition system components are meticulously inspected.
If you’re ever unhappy with a system you receive we offer a free 30 day return policy and we will happily exchange or refund your purchase.
We aim to process and dispatch all orders by the end of the following working day.
Orders purchased on a Friday will be dispatched Monday.
This is extended during national holidays.
All deliveries are sent on a tracked & signed for service. For UK deliveries we use DPD who will provide a delivery time slot the morning of your delivery. For international deliveries, we use DHL. Tracking information will be sent to your provided email address upon dispatch.
If the courier is unable to complete the delivery a note is left in the mailbox and reattempted the next working day. If your delivery fails please refer to the note left by the courier. This will include detail on how you can rearrange delivery.
A total of three attempts will be made. If delivery cannot be completed the package with be returned to us. If this occurs please contact us to rearrange delivery.

After purchase, you can check your warranty expiry using our self-service portal.
All items sold by MacFinder are covered by our standard warranty. The length of this warranty is typically one year; however, this will be stated on the product page. It will also be referenced in your email confirmations and delivery documentation for future reference.
If you do not choose an extended warranty upon purchase you can at any time during your 1-year warranty extended to a 3-year warranty on qualifying purchases using our self-service portal.
Our standard warranty warrants the machine to the purchaser against defects in materials and workmanship for the length of your warranty.
What does this mean? It means that if you have a problem with your Mac during the warranty period as an example, it won’t turn on, you have a flicker on the screen or a port isn’t working then you can give us a call we can collect the system and find a solution.
We will always try and repair your original system however if for some reason this cannot be achieved to the level of quality we require then we will offer you a replacement system of equal type and specification with no additional cost to you.
If you purchase a laptop from us, it includes a separate Battery Service cover. If you receive a battery service light within the first 90 days of ownership, we will replace the battery free of charge.
Software purchased separately is not supported by MacFinder. Our team will try and identify whether it is the software or the machine and if we cannot find fault with the system, we will recommend you speak to the manufacturer of that software.
Our standard warranty only covers defects which arise as a result of regular use and does not apply to;
Improper & inadequate maintenance or modification;
Repairs carried out by non-authorised persons and damage caused by lack of ESD protection;
Software, interfacing, media, parts, or supplies not provided or supported by MacFinder
Operation outside the product specifications;
Physical damage, accidental damage, neglect, or user abuse;
Normal wear and tear;
Consumables, i.e. batteries, ink cartridges, protective coatings, CD media, viruses or malicious software;
Display screen issues not relating to the graphics processing unit.
Don’t worry we won’t forget you. As you purchase your system with us, you will forever have access to our repair centre. We do not offer repairs to customers who didn’t source their Mac from us. If you encounter an issue, you can send your Mac to us which we will inspect. Our standard rate is £45 for inspection. We will tell you precisely what is wrong and what works needs to be performed and offer you a choice. We will repair there and then for the cost of parts and labour and waive the inspection fee alternatively you can pay the inspection fee, and we will return the Mac to you with a report which you can take to a third party for repair.
The warranty is void if there is any attempt made to repair the system by a non-authorised third party, or if the system is inadequately or improperly maintained or modified.
If you want to upgrade, please contact the Technical Support department before upgrading for authorisation to break any warranty seals. We can offer upgrades to your system. Any upgrade fitted by a third-party is not covered under our warranty.

To quickly view basic information about your Mac, such as the macOS version, processor, memory, and serial number, follow these steps:
For most users, the processor will be the most significant factor in how fast your device feels. It’s important to note the newer a system is, the more current the processor is. More recent generations of processors are more powerful and efficient. Even the lower-range versions of processors can be quicker than the older but higher-range models. There are three core components to the naming scheme we use on our products.
Think of the processor as a treadmill which moves all the actions you make on it. The higher the clock speed, the faster the treadmill moves, and the higher the core count, the more treadmills you have.
The range is a little more complex with Intel following an i3, i5, i7 and i9 naming scheme. Apple Silicon has an M designation, with M1 being the first chips released and the performance models having the Pro or Max suffix. Intel’s flagship processor is the i9, and Apple has the M Max.
If you’re not looking for graphics performance, i.e. you don’t plan on gaming, you’re not a video professional, or you have no plan on working with video tools, then the graphics in your device are irrelevant to you. If you fall into that category, however, it would be wise to pick something with a dedicated graphics card.
When shopping around our site, you will see Intel HD, Intel Iris, Intel Iris Plus or other similar options. These are integrated graphics options and not something you should opt for.
The way we describe which graphics card is included in each model is as follows.
The range GeForce, Radeon is a brand name. Apple provided Nvidia graphics options until 2015, when they switched to AMD. The model name can be confusing, but when looking at an individual model, the higher the number in the model, the faster it is. The most straightforward part is the video memory which higher is better. The highest tier options generally have 8GB but hold a substantial price tag. For entry-level users, 2GB or 4GB should be plenty. For professionals, we recommend you get in touch and speak with our team about your exact requirements.
RAM, aka. Random Access Memory
If you want to use your computer casually – for example, to browse the internet, reply to emails and listen to music – We recommend a minimum of 4GB RAM.
For all other users, such as office workers looking for a used Apple computer, we recommend 8GB of RAM. At this size, internet browsing, emails, watching videos and listening to music is easy, and you can do many things simultaneously. You can also run word processing, flash games, and run simple graphics programs smoothly with this much RAM.
Suppose you work in a creative environment where you need to edit large files or photos and videos, especially if you’re accessing more than one file at a time. In that case, we recommend getting a computer with at least 16GB. 16GB of RAM gives you enough memory for video editing, music, design work, and running more intensive software such as the Adobe Suite.
There are three types of storage available to you, plus fusion drives which we will explain separately. All consumer storage drives come in gigabytes (GB) or terabytes (TB). One thousand gigabytes are equal to a terabyte.
Hard Disk Drive (HDD). Traditional disk-based hard drives are cheap in capacity but slow in speed.
Solid State Drive (SSD). Solid state drives contain no moving parts, are generally 2-3x faster than a hard drive, and offer a much better experience. They tend to be inexpensive for smaller capacities. Above 1TB, the price increases dramatically.
Flash Solid State Drive (Flash SSD). Flash SSDs are the latest version of the SSD. They can be 5x up to 30x faster than a hard drive. The higher their capacity, the faster they are. They are also the most expensive.
In the modern age of cloud storage and backups for most users, internal storage is becoming less critical. We recommend at least 256GB of storage for most users. Unless you have a specific need, such as keeping large files locally for quick access or an extensive collection of large apps, 512GB is more than enough for most.
Fusion drives are a combination of two storage devices. Typically a large 1-3TB HDD and a smaller 32-128GB SSD. Then using software, the drives are connected and automatically store your most used files on the SSD, archiving your lesser used data on the HDD. This sounds great; however, if you’re not a home user with a predictable usage pattern, you’ll find it mismanaging your data and your computer slowing down randomly.

Traditionally, devices came in Silver, but in 2016 Apple started offering Space Grey, Gold or Rose Gold. Newer models can come in up to 7 different colours.
To keep our prices as competitive as possible, we sell items at the standard 20% VAT rate or under the Margin Scheme. This makes no difference to consumers. If you’re a UK VAT-registered business, there is no VAT claimable on Margin Scheme purchases.

Please note our technical team and repair centre is exclusive to MacFinder customers. We do not ‘repair’ or ‘refurbish’ systems as a service to customers. We only perform work on systems purchased from our store.
